It does exactly what I need, without mixing oil. Starts on the third pull every time....plus the hedge trimmer and chainsaw attachments work great. The hedge trimmer is a little awkward to use at first, but still quicker and easier than electric trimmers....my hedges are 3' wide and I have about 50' in length.

I did have some bad gas in it last year....it certainly didn't like that. All is good now.
 
Ugh, I forgot to add my leaf blower in the picture. It's electric, but it also sucks which is great in the fall.
 
Yeah, might have to get the vacuum kit for my blower come fall. I've never had to deal with large quantities of dead leaves.
 
Reduction in volume is an added bonus 😉

But we'll see. We just bought the damned place a month ago so who knows what fall/winter will bring. I just see lots of large deciduous trees. No kids to do it either.

I like the B&D li-ion line. I had their old ni-cd stuff for years and slowly started getting li-ion. First a drill+ quick charger, then a hedge trimmer, and now I just got their newer 20v 4ah trimmer and blower combo. On Amazon the combo was the same cost as just the trimmer at my local Menards. Make sure to get the newer model, the older one has the 2ah battery and won't last as long.

The trimmer has a high and low setting. The low setting seems kind of useless. I have no trouble trimming my entire .30 acre yard/sidewalks/driveway/fence + use the sweeper on 1 battery and I still have plenty of juice left. I also like that all of the batteries will work in any of the items I have. So if one does crap out on me, I have plenty of spares.

The amount of time saved is unreal. The only learning curve is emptying the bag on the "sucker" into a yard waste bag without getting your freshly collected leaves all over your lawn again.
 
Just picked up a Stihl FS 38 trimmer. 2 stroke, but its a lot cheaper. Nice and light, well balanced. Used to have electric ones growing up. Man those sucked.
 
I'm in analysis paralysis on what to do. I'm moving from a place where I had almost 2 acres that I took care of. I had a small diesel powered kubota with a 54" belly mower to do my work.

I'm moving to a place with a large, flat .4 acre yard that's got a lot of trees and beds to mow around.

I sold off the Kubota since it would be useless there. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to use at the new place.

In looking at the reviews it looks like every mower sucks. All of them have some kind of problem or another. If the deck is good, the motor sucks. If the motor is good then the way the transmission engages sucks. If both of those are good then it's a 150 pound miserable beast to operate.

It's too small of a yard for a rider. Too big to be really comfortable with a push mower.

Really looking at one of these Toro 30" Time Masters. Will make quick work of yard and it folds up well. But reviews are not the best for it...cheap chinese crap and questionable Briggs quality. If only it had a Honda or Kawasaki motor.

Moving to another state and don't have the option of getting the same kind of yard I have now if I want to be in school districts that don't blow ass. Nearly half an acre of flat, well manicured yard is a good chunk of ground.

Sounds like what I just went through. 30" deck is about right. I think the question becomes how much are you willing to spend on it. If I had the cash I would have got a exmark metro 32. Timemaster has iffy reviews. There is a MTD 30" thats rebranded cub/sears/troy. Snapper has their 30" rear engine rider, but might leave lots of trimming to do.

Wish I had leaves instead of pine needles.

Pine needles don't compress, so I just blow them into piles and rake them up. Real pain in the ass.
