Show me the money!

lols @ idiots who pay absurd amounts of money to watch "pro athletes"

For the people that spend the money going to games, if they enjoy it I don't see the problem - the time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time. A big portion of their income comes from sponsors though. So really you're indirectly paying these guys salaries when you spend money with the NFL sponsors. That's not to say it's right, but hey we got stuff like INVESCO™ Field at Mile High, it is what it is.

My favorite is when they do stuff like when they built Miller Park in Milwaukee. They levied a sales tax increase to help pay for a sports stadium, and in return you can go and.. pay $6 for a Miller beer that you could probably just about run tap lines from the brewery to. Meanwhile in the middle of the Pacific, you can buy it for probably no more than $4 in Hawaii. :hmm: Gee thanks.

They wouldn't get paid this if you stopped watching and buying.
There is obviously a market for it. Where do you think the money is coming from?

I see nothing wrong with it.

That's insane. He paid his dues, I'm past the dog thing, I just didn't think he was worth that at this point in his career. Has he ramped up his playing lately?

Don't get me wrong, he's good, I just didn't think he was a 100 mill good.

This. After watching the Steelers man-handle him I'd be wary of signing him for that much money at this stage in his career.

He should still be in jail. People are worshipping this felon and making it seem like he did nothing wrong.

I hope he got fucked in the ass real good in prison.

I don't think anyone is worshiping him. Was what he did fucked up? Absolutely. But he completed his sentence, there's no point to continue to harp over what he did. If someone is worshiping him, they have issues. If you want to throw the role model thing out there, that's the parents problem, not his.

I mean, everyone knows what he did, knows he went to jail for it. I don't think we really need to start every headline with "Dog Killer Mike Vick signs for xxxx" or "Dog Killer Mike Vick throws 8 td passes" or whatever else.

six years? I think they may be regretting that half way into the contract.

NFL contracts aren't NBA contracts. They will pay him the guaranteed portion of $40 million. Should they choose to cut him prior to the end of the contract, he will not receive the salaries of the following seasons.

My guess is that the last three seasons probably have a total salary of 50 million, or close to that figure. So, the reality is if he doesn't pan out in years 1-3 of this contract, they can walk away from a bulk of the contract and just cut him.

Now, as to the regret part... yep. Seems like a helluva lot to pay, but he did have a pretty remarkable season last year.

the guaranteed money after taxes and bankruptcy payments is ~$5 million.

Assuming he has actually changed his ways, that's still a good chunk, and he's no longer in debt.

Now any salary he earns on top of the guaranteed money will be icing on the cake. He may see a good portion of it, or he may only see half of the whole enchilada. Either way, he's in the green.

Yes we do. If we don't people will forget, and act like he is the world's greatest person like they already are. He is a sociopath, and a FELON. I do not even think he can vote.
By him getting off this easy he will go back to his old ways because there have been like zero consequences.

i'm not sure what you mean by zero consequences. he went to federal prison for 21 months. and due to that he had to file for bankruptcy.
