If they have proper AGP support (I'm sick of the NVIDIA AGP problems with my Tiger MP) my next system will be dual Opterons.

What he said. :D

Although I'd settle for ClawHammer DP, which might be called "Athlon DP" or something like that.

So I saw your thread and started shouting, but nothing happened cept somebody came in from the other room and told me to shut the fulk up. Maybe you should test your thread titles before you post them. OK?

Ok, i'm still not getting it. What's going to be the big difference between the ClawHammer and the Opteron? Isn't the Opteron basically for servers? Which would make them a little more pricey?

Opteron will refer to server-class CPUs - SledgeHammer 1P, 2P and 4P cores (and maybe multi-core CPUs *drool*).
ClawHammer is for high-end workstations and entry-level servers. There will be a ClawHammer DP, which I am not sure whether it will be called an Athlon or an Opteron.

Hey, thanks. Does anyone know the basic feature differences?

Opteron is name reserved for Sledgehammers and Clawhammer DP's. Regular Clawhammers (that only work in single-CPU systems) will be called Athlon (maybe with some additional model information like we have "XP" now).

As for the differences between Clawhammer DP and Sledgehammer. Sledgehammer has more HyperTransport-links and 2x64bit memory-channel as opposed to 64bit in Clawhammer DP.
