shouldn't I bench higher in Q3 w/ my hardware?

By clicking the link in my sig you can see that I'm running a Ti 4600. I'm also using the 27.70 drivers because those and the 27.42s are the only stable drivers I've been able to find for this particular card. As far as Q3 is concerned, I have my hunknegs @ 256, zone megs @ 128, soun megs @ 32, and max fps @ 999. Whether I bench w/ max settings @ 640 or 1024, I always get 119.something. The fact that It is the same for all res's up to 1024 leads me to think something is capping it at 120fps. Any ideas?

ps this the four_dm 67 demo w/ q3 1.31.

Yes, do that. I think it's in your video settings under Advanced>>OpenGL. V-sync will keep your fps the same as your current refresh rate.

If it's already turned off, you may be limited by your CPU and memory bandwidth rather than your video card. A Ti4600 will definitely do over 200 fps, but an Athlon 1200 and PC133 RAM might not. If not, don't stress. The fact that you can crank up the details and resolution and still run at over 100 fps is a good enough reason to have that Ti4600.

I Experienced the same thing. I am running a XP1800@1621. I only saw a increase of 10 fps going from a G3 to a 4600. But I gained close to 2500pts on 3DMark 2001se

Q3 is also very CPU dependent.
No, Quake3 is actually very nicely balanced and uses all available system resources to the fullest. Having said that four is quite a CPU dependant benchmark.

I used to get 148 FPS on my 1.333 GHz TBird in demo four running in CPU limited situations so your scores are a bit low. It could be your drivers and also double check that FSAA and anisotropic is disable in your driver control panel.
