Shoulder Surgery

I'm having Arthoscopic SLAP repair. Has anyone had similar surgey? How was the procedure? How was it afterwards? I'm having it on next thursday 10/26/06 and the doc said i could be back at work (desk job) by monday.

If you've had it before, I have a few questions:

* Could I be back to my job 4 days after the procedure?
* How's life in the sling, what type of range of motion do you have? How is it typing at a desk on a desktop? in a chair/couch on a laptop?
* Anything I should know?

Thanks!

Don R.

Absoutely the most important thing will be the physical therapy especially getting back your range of motion and you need to start on this as soon as your doctor tells you to start. PT is boring, painful, and a general pain in the a** but if you can back your ROM, you'll likely be fine.

if you are just getting scoped you will be fine. wearing a sling sucks. i was always uncomfortable. don't slouch on the rehab, you will be glad you didn't a few years down the line.

I had my shoulder scoped about 10 years ago. I still have pain in it from time to time. You may be able to go back to work after 4 days, but I think I was out for a week or two. The pain meds had me so doped up I couldn't go to work.

I fell a couple of years ago, broke my humerus and left a lot of debris in my shoulder. I had arthroscopic surgery to clean it out. I woke up in a sling in the hospital but I dumped it when I got home. Hard to cook, do dishes and clean house ans well as take care of the pooch with your arm in a sling.

Oh yes, it still hurts something awful.
