Shoulder Surgery Is Done.....

I posted about my bum shoulder here a few weeks back.
Decided on the surgery and had it done on Wednesday, July 14th. It got to the point where the pain was constant, and it wasn't going away on its own. Turns out there were two problems. One was a known: I had impingement syndrome in the AC joint. Simple enough cure and that problem is over with.
The other problem that was worse than the doc originally expected was the labrum. The MRI showed some fraying. But, when the doc went in there with the scope it showed that it was torn in one spot, right off the bone. Which would explain the constant pain. Well, that wayward body part has since been anchored into place and should heal nicely.
Post surgery life: three weeks in a sling, (BIG pain in the ass); Approximately six weeks of rehab, which already began yesterday. Followed by about another month of rest before I can resume full activities, including hitting the gym to do any lifting.
Is it all worth it? I'd have to say yes if in two months the joint is pain free once again. In the meantime, the pain is surprisingly minimal, (haven't needed even one Vicodin). And Mrs. Carbo has been bathing me.....

at least make sure you hand it to the arm not attached to the newly surgerized shoulder
G'luck on you're recover: And Mrs carbo bathing you eh? doesn't sound to shabby at all.

Say's who? I went to lunch with the Mrs. yesterday to celebrate our 11th anniversary. We split a bottle of wine. I'm feeling better than ever... :wine: 😉

I wish you a seppedy recovery.

I had my shoulder surgery on June 23 and have already had my third therapy session. Gaining mobility already.

Arthroscopic surgery.

In February I had a bad fall and fractured my humerus and also shattered that ball at the top of the humerus (forget the term) AND messed up the rotator cuff. Shoulder area was loaded with debris.

Docs finally let me have surgery. Try to wish it away didn't work.

Coming along fine so far.

Ugh! Sounds a hell of a lot worse than mine. Good luck for a speedy recovery. See ya in the bullpen.

I had arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder in '91 from a few dislocations, to keep it from dislocating again (I guess?). I 100% wish I'd never had the surgery. Of course a couple years after the surgery I fell on wet blacktop and dislocated it (and other times), so now it's worse now than before the surgery. Plus the pain, immobility, lump, and scars from the surgery.
