driving is a priveledge and not a right, so if the government wants to yank your license so you can't drive on their streets, it's fair.

only big oil companies should be able to steal from consumers, not the other way around.

when you steal from a gas station, you are stealing from a private vendor that buys gas from the big oil company, so you don't hurt the oil company, just the vendor, and in some cases, small business man.
you can't justify that kind of theft.

And what difference does it make if a person drives to wal-mart to steal 20 dollars in plastic crap or drivers to mobile to steal 20 dollars in gas. Why should one person lose his license for stealing and not the other.

The same reason it is okay to run over a person and kill them while drunk and only get manslaughter if you kill someone sober and get 1st degree.

*shrug* Portions of the taxes on gas go towards highways funds and such, so by stealing gas, you are depriving the government of funds to be used to maintain the roods that you use your stolen gas to drive on.. or something like that. It's loosely related, I suppose.

Here's how I think the license suspension rule came about:
Gas station owners let their customers know that gas-stealers raise prices for honest customers. Americans have a disproportionate preoccupation with the price of gas. Politicians love votes so they legislate anything to keep gas prices low.

The whole idea behind the law is... YOU DON'T NEED THE GAS IF YOU'RE NOT DRIVING!
If you are stupid enough to steal gas then you probably will try it again. Losing your license gives you less incentive to steal it.
