Technically everyone who makes money is a wage earner. I think you meant an hourly worker. And you're right, salaried workers get shafted on overtime.

It depends on the arrangement you have with your employer. Government should have no say so in the matter.

Without mandatory time-and-a-half employers have no incentive to hire as many people as they really need. They can set 60-hour minimum work-weeks (or higher) to save on fixed costs like insurance.

You get a job and work 168 hours a week since there's nothing to mandate otherwise.

Well said dave.

And I work sometimes 90 hours a week sometimes 15 still the same pay, never had a job with overtime.

Ive heard, In germany, the CEO goes to jail if a worker works over 35 hours a week. Plus they have beer carts on the BMW assembly line every hour or so.. We treat our wokers like sh1t, any wonder our products are crap?
