Should welfare recipients be drug tested?

Should folks that get assistance such as welfare, disability, food stamps, rental assistance, and the like be drug tested? The way I look at it I had to get drug tested at my job and most jobs these days involve passing a drug test. If your not working and are going to get paid by the government you should have to be able to pass a drug test. If your using my tax dollars to live, it doesn't need to go to your crack habit. What does the hive say?

Yes. though i would question those on SSI as being on welfare.

but hell yeah people should if they are getting free money from the government

I work for a living and I had to pass a drug test. I am also subject to random drug tests.

I doubt they would kick off enough people to justify the expense of implementing a nationwide drug testing operation.

It would be dangerous if they were driving around looking for a job while smoking dope.

I think the couch is the best place for them. Its safer there.

They take a piss test at a piss test place just like someone who has a job. The piss test place faxes the results to their caseworker.
 
You don't get the point. We give them welfare so they will just lay on the couch and smoke their dope. The alternative is to cut them off and they will be robbing you at gunpoint so they can get their dope and lay on the couch. Either way they aren't going to work for a living.

How does it intrude on personal liberty? It's their choice to accept the check. No one is forcing them too. If getting high is more important that getting free money, that is their decision.
 
considering the billions that got wasted recently, *gm*cough** some of that could have spent drug testing the lazy.
too many people keep having kids and "faking" single parenthood just to be on section 8 and welfare all while riding in cadillacs with shiny big rims, eating T bones and buying Beer....yeah, i say lets drug test them and shake things up a bit....actually it would save us tax dollars, too many stupid ones would fail

Unless your job is such that could endanger the physical safety of others, then it is none of your employer's business.

A truck driver/crane operator? Certainly. A secretary, clerk, or accountant? No.
