Should we destroy all machines/computers now before it's too late?

After watching enough movies(Terminator, Matrix) and comics(X-men), one thing that I know for sure is that machines will one day overthrow mankind.
When is an appropriate time for man to destroy all machines so that we may avoid this catastrophic future?
