Should we delay the June 12th rollout of DTV?

We may as well delay it again just to remind everyone that government loves to fustrate people. We will never be ready. Im already at my wits end with the stupid cable company keeping the old aspect ratios in favor of analong TV (basic channels, not HD). I can change the aspect on the remote but like everything else (including every channel having a different volume level) its annoying.

So lets just go ahead and push the date out three more months. We should contact the necessary bodies to encourage them to push the date out again because old people will lose their TVs.

Join my "lets delay dtv again" bandwagon. We only have days to save analog!

While I understand your sarcasm, do not be surprised if Obama puts a halt to it again.

You do realize that not all shows, whether being broadcast on an HD channel or not, are natively in widescreen, right? And by changing the aspect ratio on the remote, you're just stretching (distorting) the picture to fill in the space?

Thats why Im psyching myself up for it. It wont hurt as much. I figure if I led the charge that would be even better.

Stop the digital rollout!!!!!

Your logic is no good here.

I just wish content providers would make up their mind of how they're present widescreen material to non-hd sets. I've seen some widescreen shows where either the cable co or the network or someone is making it anamorphic. When usually they just letterbox it.

Switch it over already. Fuck anybody that isn't ready. If you're that poor and stupid then you don't get TV anymore... bummer. Not going to kill you not having TV.

Well, now that Duke Nukem Forever has been axed, we need something that will never happen to talk about...

Nothing more annoying than watching one of the "HD" channels like HGTV and seeing that distorted garbage.

Finally, someone who understands. We have to fight the power! Fight the DTV rollout!

That is not what he was implying...

You changed your avatar again.

No. DTV should not be delayed.

This just in - We no longer care, flip the god damn switch...

Delaying is just stupid.

But what about the people who are too stupid and lose their TV, we have to think about those 15 people.

Owning a TV may not be, but having access to the publicly owned spectrum is. Since the Govt auctioned off a huge hunk of it to privatize it, the tradeoff was to use some of that money to make sure people could make the switch to be able to access the free to air stuff.

I certainly don't think they should delay it again (don't think they should have the first time either), but the idea that the Govt shouldn't be handing out coupons to help with the process is flawed as well.

They won't delay it again. Even if they wanted to it's too late to push through any new legislation, and most stations have already ceased their analog broadcasts anyways.

it would be a shame if anyone would miss a proclamation from Lord Obama, the most merciful.

I agree. I can't believe the government is forcing DTV on me. I'm a proud Dish subscriber and I will fight them to the death if they try to break into my home and force me to switch. On the other hand, it will be nice to be able to re-watch deadwood on channel 101.
