Yea, I feel the same as you. The only time it costs us money is for security when they come here(which goes for any world leader), they don't interfere (or really have no power to interfere) with our politics, and the continued ties to the British Monarchy helps to remind us of the British Parliamentary and British Law systems that we use. I think we have much more important issues to consider than this non-issue.

Instead of electing an idiot like Bush or Gore every 4 years you have one for life.

No, we elect an idiot for 11 years because the opposition splits apart, then fights, then tries to consolidate, but fails, then fights some more.

*sigh*

Should we aboulish the monarchy

We already did!

<--American

:p

In all seriousness, since the english monarch is the head of state (not head of gov't i.e. she simply has to be polite to foreign diplomats and act as a figurehead, as well as be there for moral support) I see no need to abolish the monarchy. Of course, I'm a silly American who hasn't lived in England, so perhaps my understanding of your system is slightly clouded (I did only learn about i in school :p)
