Should VGA be cleaner than component for XBox 360?

I have an old 360 with only component and composite output and I also bought the VGA cable for it since I have been using it on a computer monitor for years. But I decided to move it to my TV and comparing the two (with the same game mode and picture settings on my TV) I can't shake the thought the VGA seems a bit cleaner. But I wonder if it just looks clearer because I'm expecting it to look clearer, the same way a meal can taste better if you have higher expectations going in. I can't compare side by side and it takes a couple of minutes to switch out the cables and boot into a game, so I'm not quite convinced the difference is real and not just in my head. Is there any reason VGA should be better than component for an XBox 360 on a 1080p TV? Or vice-versa? My 360 doesn't support HDMI.

I'm not sure about the 360 in particular, but yes, VGA could provide a better picture. It typically depends on the quality of the components, RAMDAC, etc. At 1080p they should be similar. I would say to use whatever looks best to you.

VGA has horribly washed out colors compared to component and HDMI on the 360. It's like looking at a TN panel PC monitor next to an IPS monitor.
