Should this USB to serial port adapter work with a Core2 Duo iMac?

I have a 24 inch white Core2 Duo iMac.

I want to use VMWare Fusion / Windows XP Home so I can use some Windows only programs and a really old Palm IIIxe PDA, which has a serial port connector.

Should that adapter work with my iMac, using Tiger or Leopord?

And is this adapter simply some sort of hardware based connection rewiring, or is there some sort of driver required?

it should work as it is a usb devices as far as vmware is concerned.

From what I know (I have one of those adapters somewhere) it presents itself as a regular serial com port to the system and all should be good as you can pass on com traffic through vmware effortlessly

AFAIK the USB->serial thing is standard so as long as OS X supports them any one of them should work, at least that's been my experience with Linux.
