Should These Apps Have Internet Access??

my network is not working (explained in the networking forum) and i'm going through zone alarm controls to see if there's anything obvious that's messed up and i ran across the following two apps that are set to have internet access. i'm wondering whether these are legit or are some sort of malware:

c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe

described in zone alarm as "run dll as an app"

and

c:\windows\system32\services.exe

described in zone alarm as "services and controls"

am i being paranoid--can't figure out why the network is down..thx.

Please continue discussing these issues in your other thread that is located in the networking forum.

Thanks,

rundll32.exe simply permits applications to call functions in libraries via an EXE instead of API calls. It's a legit executable.
services.exe is a host for many official Windows services. You will probably want both to have Internet access.

Uninstall Zone Alarm and your network will probably be functional again. 😛

are you suggesting a complete uninstall or disabling? i tried disabling but it didn't help. i've had za on this pc for a couple of years....no issues until the past couple of weeks.
