I understand canceling events the day of and the day after something like this, but life goes on and it needs to start soon. If for no other reason than to help put the rest of the nation at ease.

I think they should continue but at the start of the games they should have a one minute silence as a mark of respect...........

I dont think its as much a matter of getting on with our lives as much as it is an issue as wether we are safe to do so. The immediate continued terrost threats have not yet been fully assessed. It is quite possible we have only seen the beginning of what is to come, and the nation needs to get a handle on its security before groups of tens of thousands of Americans convene in a localized event.

I think that the baseball and NFL games should procede according to schedule...the longer that we permit this Act of War to paralyze our nation the more successful this heinous act becomes. Allow a moment of silent before each game.

They were just talking about MLB on ESPN, and one suggestion by Buck Schowalter was to have the games played on Friday but to donate all the ticket sales to NY. The biggest problem I see about sports continuing is if the players themselves don't want to play. In football, this can possibly lead to serious injuries if their heads just aren't in the game. It's a bit of a double-edged sword, but this is only my opinion.

Not only that, but athletes are reported to be 'too afraid' to get on airplanes anytime soon. Baseball is suspended through Thursday, and NFL will announce Thursday whether there will be games played this weekend. And I hear all collegiate games will most likely be cancelled this weekend.

Out of respect for the victims of this tragedy, I think at least the New York area teams shouldn't play games anytime soon. While I'm sure the NFL games can be made up in future dates, I'm not so sure about MLB, since baseball is much more sensitive to weather than other pro sports (I doubt baseball can be played into November). Maybe MLB should cut the season short. (Sorry Barry Bonds)

I think one of the major problems right now is transporting the players to play a game.

I agree with Emos. I think they should play the games but strengthen security.

I'm with FatAlbo who has an excellent suggestion, donate all the proceeds to the NY/DC/PA victims.

But first you gotta get the players to the game and they have to be willing, to fly. Otherwise no players = no game.

While I understand what you are saying, what about individuals who do things which are dangerous in the first place, such as firefighters/police officers in other cities where life does go on. Surely when they're going to their next call, they have to put what is going on in NY/Washington aside as it can affect them to the point where it can result in injuries/death to themselves or others. That said, did you go to work today? I was at work both yesterday and today, and while I really didn't want to be there, the fact is that life does go on....
