Should the Phillipines pull out their troops?

Here's something I was thinking about. Apparently the Phillipines only have about 50 soldiers acting in minor roles in Iraq. Recently a Phillipeno was abducted and now faces decapitation unless those troops are withdrawn. I know about the whole "giving into terrorism" thing and I beleive in no negotiations as well, but this is 50 people who can easily be removed to save a life and whose presence probably isn't anything more than symbolic. Think about it, would "giving into the terrorists demands" in THIS case be warranted? It's a hard question IMO.

It's not a hard situation after all the support we've given them in their own little war on terror in the south, including one dead GI.

Oh yes... let us tell the terrorists... Kidnapping is good stuff, keep it up... all you have to do is kidnap a few people, and then you can kick our azzes. :frown:

Sure, those rebels in Mindano is gonna base their actions on what the Phillippines do with their 50 soldier in Iraq.

What will happen is that those that have a grudge and are sitting on the fence will be encouraged to follow in the footsteps of the terror groups.

They've already had some success with kidnapping for ransom, and you don't think they'd be encouraged to do it a LOT MORE if the national government caved in to one Iraqi kidnapping?

Besides, Arroyo just got reelected so she's not likely to cave in to anyone right now.

Absolutely, since there were no WMD's to begin with, NO TROOPS SHOULD BE THERE in the first place. Terrorist, foreign troops what is the difference? One group (the troops) are pretending (self righteousness) to have the right to be there the other is showing them that they don't (non-military troops aka terrorists).

You can largely blame the government that sent them (the military troops) to that country. But don't fool yourself some of them are sick-o's who actually enjoy their license to kill.

Peace\/

That type exists within any civilization. It is jsut a matter of degree and government encouragement/lead by example.

WMD is not the reason that we SHOULD have gone in there. Agreed, it may have been a false trigger.
