Should Redmond buy Team Red?

Saw this opinion piece on MaximumPC, and somehow the idea that M$ should acquire a chip maker (but not nVidia) has stuck to my mind as an interesting development. The comments make for a pretty good argument for AMD... It would change the industry balance quite radically.

AMD is basicly the worst company you can buy due to the loss of x86, liabilities, no profit, contracts, too many employees you need to fire etc. Much cheaper to buy the parts when the company goes under or need to spinoff the last 2 parts (ATI and Seamicro).

Not to mention AMD is utterly demoralized inside. And not exactly the best people left.

I dont see MS buying nVidia either. It makes no economic sense.
