Good dough is the foundation of good pizza. Bad pizza is covered in tomato sauce and excess, oily cheese.

You should be tasting the sauce and cheese at nearly the same time, anyway.
 
Good pizza has tasty dough.

Grooveridings link reminds me of my favorite local coal oven pizza joint.

Of course you can also do a deep dish with delicious crust ...
 
If a pizza isn't from NY, it simply is inferior. Even places with "NY style" pizza are crap, as far as I'm concerned.

Some places can do it okay, with quality ingredients. The key is to have a good brick oven.

eh, I made the pilgrimage to NY and was not impressed by the average offering.
 
I think that's it. It's various flavored pizzas as toppings. Each individual topping appears to represent a different type of pizza.

but that's even more dough.i think overall you have a smaller topping to dough ratio
