Every once in a while, when shutting down or restarting Windows XP Pro, I get a program not responding dialog, and the program is named, "should not see me". Is this a virus or trojan? Has anyone heard of this or know what it is? Thanks for any input.

Good question! I have seen this a few times...I seen it on this first shutdown after I reformated the other day, so I dont think its a virus or trojan. It has never caused any problems for me, I have never lost any data and the shutdown dosent take any longer. Only difference Ive noticed is being able to see the little box.

These are exactly the reasons I uninstall XP and went back to 2k...

BTW, I never had this problem for the couple of months I was using XP...

I've seen it several times after installing new ATI drivers then going to restart. I too wonder...

Hmmm, an ATI program? I wouldn't think so. I have had strictly Nvidia video cards, (2 to be exact), in my machine for the past two years. I don't beleive an ATI card has even come within 100 feet of my case, so I don't think I could have installed any ATI software by accident.

LOL

rumor is that it's from some sort of installshield program that should have deleted a temporary folder upon exit. For some reason it conflicts with a degub or development application that you probably already have installed. It affects Win2K and XP. It doesn't appear to be anything serious.
