Should my apartment's coax wiring be shocking me?

When touching the connectors on the coaxial wiring in my apartment, my roommates and I get a shock. Nothing very painful but a buzz that can be quite surprising. We draw straws for whenever the cable has to be messed with. I'm assuming this isn't normal but wanted to check.

Thanks

Definitely not normal and very BAD for anything it's plugged into. It's an aparment complex, so they are running a distribution amplifier to boost the signal...but it shouldn't be shocking you. Something's definitely wrong. Call the company and tell them you got shocked...they'll fix it ASAP b/c they are afraid of lawsuits these days.

Thanks guys. We dropped off a letter with the apartment complex last night so hopefully it'll get fixed. They had previously told us that if we wanted new wiring we had to pay for it. That's something you don't tell an apartment of broke law students ;-)

Dont' leave it with the apartment complex, get the cable company involved too. Have them send otu a tech to take some readings and do some investigating and see what they uncover. Could be nothing with the actual wiring and more with the signal or amp being used to distribute it throughout the building.
