I got a new monitor, and I don't want my other one degrading. Is it ok to store it for long periods of time without using it?

Should I use it anyways, once every 1 or 2 days to make sure that it stays working?

it has been my experience that the life of a monitor is determined by how much use it gets. if your monitor isn't being used, it shouldn't lose any life :)

There is no performance difference at all, unless you consider .1 fps a big deal... Oh i forgot if you own a tnt2 its supposed to increase by 4fps.. but Geforce Core and higher just the same.

In some cases there may be a slight leakage of air molecules into the CRT that becomes larger as time passes. When the monitor is turned on you may hear some popping and snapping noises from internal arcing as this leakage is eliminated but there will be no damage. You sometimes hear these noises as part of normal usage anyhow.

Electrolytic capacitors spoil when never used, so run any electronic equipment at least 30 minutes continuously once a month.
