should Micro$haft be held liable for security holes?

Not. Article is about why they should be, possibly. Not that they are.

It'll never happen... with current software anyway.

There are tens of millions of lines of code in Windows 2000 and XP. There are millions of hardware/software configurations that are inflicted on Windows to run upon. There are people working night and day to find the smallest hole to exploit.

I don't expect the product to be perfect, but I expect reasonable follow-ups to minimize the damage. MS hasn't disappointed me yet.

No. Microsoft and other companies should be liable for what they agree to be liable for in the license. If you don't like the licensing terms, don't buy the software.

Blame hackers? I applaud them! Lets blame software companies for supporting M$ with their "windows only" software! M$ is also to blame for never coming up with an original OS... Windows is a copy of the Mac OS isn't it? A poor copy at that! Hacker seem like the only ones that are doing anything about M$'s monopoly of the PC OS.

copy of macOS... lol. oh yeah, macOS never copied anyone, they're totally original unlike windows.

Welcome to the year 2003. XP core is nothing like MacOS/OSX.

Who cares if they copied apple in the early 90's.

So all software companies should be accountable for their defects? After they started getting sued, the commercial software market would just keel over.

Or did the author of the article just want to single out MS because it's cool to dog them? (I can't access the article).
