Floating stool is indicative of a lot of fat content......technical name is seborrhea or steatorrhea, idiopathis; excessive fat in the stool characterized by impaired absorption of fat by the intestinal tract. The most extreme example can be seen with fat streaks in the stool. Floaters ain't good.
Yes there is an extremely rare problem that can be identified by floaters. But for the rest of us, floaters = good.

the website that fishtaco posted says the "fat makes it float" theory is bogus.

It says it's more the gas content. Sooo, im guessing the OP has major gas, and his buddy doesnt.
