I'm thinking about creating a picturehosting site JUST for ebay...

Now the question is... if I do that, how many hits per day do you think I'd get, and how much bandwidth might be used up?

Thanks for the insight...

I'd say you'd be putting up with a LOT of bandwidth :) You'll be dealing with thousands and thousands of hits a day

I can't approximate really, I'm not an eBay afficianado

I'm contemplating it, but I don't want to start it up only to have to take it down and piss off people... I don't know how many people would manage to find the service, but I've noticed a few people putting up pics on my regular pichosting site for ebay auctions...

Well, if there's some people around the forums that use eBay, ask them to use paulsonator.com to host a few auctions, and see what it looks like - that should give you a decent idea of what to expect. :)

This auction is about to close and has 244 hits on it.

That picture is roughly 10kb on there. Lets assume you there's 10,000 auctions using your picture hosting service at any given time. With an average of 3 pictures per auction. That's 30kb per auction. Assume each auction gets 250 hits in it's on week stand.

That's roughly 75 Gigs a week of bandwith assuming all auctions are 7 day auctions.

NFS4 uses it a lot for auctions I take it because on all the pics he uploads it says "brandon's auctions" :)

I don't know, I host so many sites I can't remember them all and yet I'm still not maxing out the bandwidth 24/7...

I doubt there'd ever be that many users though, I'm guessing a 100 users at max unless I really promoted the site (I don't plan to but word might get around...)

Who knows... I think I'm just going to try it and see where it goes for a while...

I don't think you have the bandwitdh for it considering the speeds of your other stuff.

I was about to mention. Pix on your site seem to load rather slowly lately...

Well, the bandwidth wasn't there a for a few days because of something I was running, so hopefully it's semi-normal... I need to get more bandwidth from my isp.. I'll have to negotiate and maybe setup a donation thing for those that could give something to keep the site free..
