i've never watched popular shows and i should at some point start catching up, so right now im debating if i should watch the grandaddy-o of all of those shows my classmates watched but i'd rather poke my eyes out with a stick - Twin Peaks.
The original thing from the 80s. With that Dune guy.

I liked it a lot. I watched it for the first time last year. Season3 was a visual spectacle, with lots of WTF, but I enjoyed it, and it was good seeing some of the old actors for the last time. At least three died during, or soon after season3 was completed.

Not a remake, but a continuation after ~25 years. I believe the series is officially concluded now.

edit:
Season3 was really "artsy". I'm not kidding when I say there's lots of WTF. I didn't 'get' a lot of it, but it was fun to watch.

Its fine (I liked it, but its definitely not for everyone), and I'd say worth a watch. It kinda meanders off the rails in season 2 (not always in a bad way, Mulder in drag was fun, but it did start to get a little tedious at times because there was hardly anything happening). The thing is though if you struggle with non-coherent and clear narratives you'll probably hate it. Its enjoyable for the atmosphere and kinda throwback feel of the characters. But its also WTF. There's a lot of weirdness and random character development that often goes little to nowhere or doesn't payoff in the grand scheme.

I haven't seen season 3. I will at some point when I'm able to conveniently.

i watched the pilot and it's a bit here and a bit there. it surely shows promise but at this time it's too early to tell. gonna have to watch a little bit more.

i realized that a few days ago i saw a video by one of the Steve N Seagulls (read that quickly) guys who covered the theme tune, which is probably why i had this stuck in my head.

Yes, absolutely. If you like David Lynch, then you will love it.

I only got around to watching it last year, and feel like it hasn't really aged at all. Best part is that at the first episode, I found myself laughing hysterically over the emotional responses to Laura's body (sorry, that really is not a spoiler, lol). I felt the sappiness to be completely intentional and over-the-top. I thought it was all brilliant and hilarious, and prepares you well for the mood of that show.

Yeah, Season 3 went out there, and I know what you mean. There is one particular episode that I'm sure very few would be able to sit through, ahha, but I thought it was brilliant. ...even though I'm not sure I can sit through it again.

You have to really put some perspective on this show. It was really groundbreaking in its day. There really wasn't any show like this at the time. It was one of the very first shows that had a continuing story line that spanned across the entire season.

I loved the original series and enjoyed most of the new series. But David Lynch is sometimes too artsy for his own good. I think most are split down the middle. You love his stuff or hate it.

well, i was doing some reading, and discovered that Lynch one day saw one of his crewmembers accidentally get into the shot, and he up'n' decided to cast him. That guy is BOB.
I suspect that Lynch winged it a lot, he had an idea but essentially wrote the script as he went along, and while that certainly leads to creative stuff, it lacks in coherence.

Also, seriously: Dale - the FBI guy - is such a retard, but WHY. There are soooo many characters that have these weird quirks with no reason behind it.

I recommend skipping it. I watched it after the fact, well some of it I guess, didn't care for it. Isn't it David Lynch? I like some of his stuff, certainly not all. My GF liked it, but that was her... not me!

There are tons of popular and super popular TV shows that I've never watched. It doesn't bother me. It would take a big chunk out of my life to make the effort and time to "catch up" on that stuff, it would be transformative. I don't think I want to endure that transformation! TV is like an amoeba, it'll absorb you and make you into itself! Beware!
