Should I wait or should I buy?

I'm trying to figure out if I should wait till jan/feb to buy a new pc configuration or if I could buy it as well now.
Some questions:

1. CPU: C2D 6600 (310?)
I know the 6600 quad is launched in january/februari, but its benchmarks are less than impressive (compared to a 6600 dual core) and its price tag is way too high. Besides I think it won't affect the prices of the lower end C2D cpu's. AMD's new processors are here in Q2/3 07 so I'm not waiting for them.
Any thoughts on this?

2. GPU: 8800 GTS (480?)
Since the 8300 and 8600 gpu's will not influence the 8800's price (they're not in the same market segment), I won't be waiting for them. 2 problems remain: the 8800GTS benchies are not that impressive (Oblivion is way too slow for a nextgen gpu) and secondly: when is the R600 coming and will it be alot faster?

3. DDR2 Memory (2GB= 330?)
****** this is expensive! Is there any reason to believe those prices are gonna drop in the next couple of weeks/months?
And secondly, is there really a noticeable difference (in reallife apps) between 667 and 800 Mhz RAM?

4. MB
The MSI P965 NEO-F is only 100? - any reason why not to take it if I don't want RAID or SLI? I do want to do some oc'ing though.
And some last thing: do all MB's with 965 and 975x chips still support PATA DVD drives?

I would wait and buy after Vista is released and get it bundled. That will save you some bucks down the road.

Yeah well... I'm not that interested in Vista at the moment. And I don't think they bundle it with single hardware components anyway..
