I'm in the market for a new cell. I'm looking to go with verzions droid. i never owned a andriod based cell phone. in fact, my last cellphone was a sony erricson walkman phone, which was a decent mp3 phone at the time. That would also be a major selling point into which phone I choose. So should I wait for springtime and get a nexus? or just buy a droid?

nexus vs droid..GO!

hmm.. lesse... should you buy a new, untested phone... or buy a slightly less new, but tested phone.

the choice is yours.

Just another wannabe iPhone. By the time the nexus comes out, Apple will have a new phone out that will be superior to it in every way imaginable. No one can keep up with Apple. No one has better design than Apple. No one has better users than Apple. Everyone knows this.

I'd wait and see. My brother has a Droid, and although he likes it, he really really really wants the new Nexus, the performance is apparently still somewhat poor on ALL current phones for people used to fast PCs and whatnot. The Nexus will offer an experience that is snap, snap, snap, if we're to believe the specs, previews, and hype.

Android's music player isn't that good at all. It's acceptable but not that good. Both run stock Android.

Yeah although Apple's next iteration will most likely beat out Nexus, I do wish it well.

wait. now is the time that you'll see updated versions of "windows phones" (possibly even windows mobile 7), palm's updated palm pre plus/palm pixi plus (on att and verizon now as well), and in a few weeks/months, a preview of iphone os 4.0.

android is just okay in the multimedia department. to be honest, apple currently has the best media player and multimedia capabilities, even though it only supports a limited amount of formats - it supports them pretty darn well.

nexus vs droid? well depends on what you want. droid may not be "technically" up to par like the nexus one (snapdragon, amoled screen, etc), but its still just as fast as the 3GS, which is pretty damn fast. do you want a hardware keyboard or a full touchscreen only keyboard? honestly, i hate landscape keyboards so i would stick with the touchscreen only.

I have a Droid, and I really like it. On Verizon's network, it's a considerably faster and smoother experience than the iPhone on AT&T. Whether that's due to the phone or the network, I don't care.

What's this tested crap? It's up to the manufacturer to test, and since android is a stable, controlled platform there shouldn't be much difference between two devices running the same android version. The android platform is well tested at this time.
Besides, this is a hardware website, who wouldn't want to be on the bleeding edge?
It's a top of the line phone in nearly every aspect versus...
A slightly less top of the line phone, that has a keyboard.

Looks like the best Android phone on the market. If I hadn't picked up a MyTouch back in August I would get one, but I'm not dropping $500 for a new phone when my current one works perfectly fine. Love my Android.

I gotta say, defy popularity and go with a Nokia N900!

Well, it's not going to have a Verizon version most likely, but it's a cool phone/computer thing. Runs a version of Debian Linux, and people have gotten Android and Ubuntu mostly working on it too.

How long do you want to wait? N1 is Spring 2010 on Verizon
Do you want a physical keyboard? Get the Droid if so.

I have a Droid and it's an amazing piece of technology that I've found extremely useful. If you don't mind waiting for the extra 450Mhz you'll get with snapdragon, then wait for the N1. Otherwise there's no reason to wait on buying a Droid.

FWIW, 2.1 on the Droid is great and runs significantly faster than 2.0.1, right now there will be very little difference between the Droid and the N1 but certainly as Android gets better, it will be able to utilize the processor more.

Nexus One is fine.

Droid is overrated. Motorola is the worst cell phone company out there. There's a reason it's slipped to like #5 or something in the global market. SE, LG, HTC, Nokia, Samsung all make better phones.

WinMo7 won't be out for a long time. We'll be lucky to see 7 out before the end of this year.

you're probably right. i was under the impression of seeing "more phones next month", straight from steve ballmers mouth. i dont think windows mobile 7 will be any good, considering the last major releases basically are all the same (to me at least).

You seem to be a Droid hater based on a few threads I've read. Care to expand on how it's an awful phone and how it's overrated? Genuinely curious.
