Should I wait for Dothan? Or get Compaq X1000 or Winbook W160?

I haven't seen any solid numbers for the Dothan yet, but I can tell that if everything checks out the way I think it will, my next laptop will have a Dothan in it.

Everyone is adamant about this Feb. 4th date, but has any manufactorers confirmed that they will be shipping units with that processor on that date?

I really want a laptop for spring semester that begins in the middle of January,

But Since Dothan comes out in 1st week of Feb that means I would of had the laptop for like 3 weeks of use.

Now i wonder if i can just upgrade the current Pentium M that are in the centrino packages to the Dothan processor.

IIRC, you can do this. But getting one of those procs is going to be uber expensive. Not to mention, you will void the warranty on your lappy if you take it apart.

Argh I so want a laptop to play around with now, but I want the best so it would last a longer time before i have to replace it.

And getting a Dothan would be nice, so with the new technology I wont be further behind.
