Should I wait for a Retail Radeon 8500 from Dell or get the OEM?

I went in on the Dell deal for the Radeon 8500. I need it for a system I built. Right now I am stuck using an old Diamond Stealth 3 S540 16MB. I'm wondering if I should cancel the order with Dell and just get an OEM Radeon 8500 from NewEgg? Assuming I would get one of the 250/250 ones, how much difference does that make compared to the 275/275? How would that compare to a Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO? Thanks for any info.

well it should be a lot faster the your current radeon, and a tad slow then the retail radeon.

If i was spending 250+ dollars on a Graphics card, then a few more $$ wouldnt be that much of a % difference....

If you are going to get a top of the range card, go the whole hog. I'd get a retail card.

Yes, but I'm not sure how much pAtience I'm going to need. I've heard shipping dates ranging from today to mid November. I will say there is NO WAY I'm waiting till mid November. The Stealth 3 is a really bad card (it can't even get icons right!).

Umm... If I wait for the card from Dell it will be $203.

I would probably stick w/ the Dell deal if it trully is retail, i'm kind of skeptical because of the price... but since they say retail... i believe it's so. Anyway, I have a newegg 8500, and while the reports of slower clocks are true, I still love the card. I dont have any problems w/ it "yet" (only had it for 2 days), all my games run great, quality of the card and image is awsome... i cant complain. I understand how some feel let down by ATi... hell I was... i was expecting a GF3 killer at the very least... but the card suits what I do and need it for so i like it.

its a bit of a rant... sorry 😉

I personally would not be able to wait either, i always have a hard time waiting... but i'll jump on the "wait for the dell deal" bandwagon because its definitely a surefire way to go and to save some cash.
