Should i use X-fi to power up the theater?

Sometime during next week I'll be borrowing my school's theater for a movie night. As a person who has no experience on setting up a movie, can somebody offer me some advice on how would it be done??

Currently, my group had planned on brining in a desktop that is equipped with an X-fi extrememusic to power up the speakers at the theater, just because they thought an X-fi will give them a higher sound quality for the speakers. The music will be played directly from the computer and I have no idea whether or not if it is going to work (will the theater support DVI input?).

How could we output the video from a computer towards the theater? Is it possible to use X-fi to power up the speakers? If so, what type of wires should i prepare for it?

You should be able to ask someone at your school these questions (presumably the person who told you you could borrow it). Since no one here knows anything about your school or its theater all we can do is guess.

The projector probably takes a vga input so your video should work ok and the sound system should have preamp inputs for what channels it has and your Xfi should connect fine. You need to know this stuff though so you have the right cables and everything.

Yeah, definately talk to someone on their end.

Something as simple as a 3.5mm to RCA stereo adapter might work for connecting up the sound depending on their equipment, but there's no way to know without talking to them.

You might want to think about just bringing a DVD player if you're just trying to play a DVD movie.

How do they normally show material there?
