Should i use this Abit SATA Adapter?

the ol serrillel adpater came with my abit nf7 board.

Should i use this on my maxtor 7200rpm drive? It would be the OS drive.

Will this actually increase speeds over regular ide cable hookup?

no it won't increase speed. i use it with no problems, just because the cable is smaller and easier to manage.

Only use it if you really, really want to use a SATA data cable - as the adapter (actually almost any active adapter) will slow things down a bit.
