Should I use the stock retail Duron thermal compound?

I received my new retail boxed Duron 600 CPU recently and am about to set it up. It comes with a strip of tape covering a bit of the bottom of the stock heat sink with some sort of thermal paste beneath it.

I'm wondering if I should try to scrape the goo off the heat sink and use my more or less generic "Tech Spray" Silicone Free Heat Sink Compound or is it worth ponying up $15 or so for the Artic Silver stuff?

I have an Asus A7V motherboard and I'm not planning to overclock the system right away, but may give it a shot after the system has burned in for a few weeks.

Just use it and see how your temp goes. I don't see a reason why you should put out $15 at this time. You can always get it later when overclocking and temp goes wahy too high.
