Should I use the MB fan header for HS Fan?

I am getting an A7N8X Deluxe and it has a 3 pin fan header for the CPU fan. It will apparently vary the speed of the fan based upon temp. Most of the better fans I have seen are 4 pin fans. Is it best to get a 4 pin fan and just plug directly into the PS (btw, I have a Antec True Power with the special fan headers as well) or go with a good 3 pin fan (any recommendations for good fans)?

I will likely get a thermalright SK-7 heat sink and just need a fan. Probably getting from Silicon Valley Computer, so a fan from them (or newegg) would be easiest. Since the motherboard will vary the fan speed, I assume I can use a single speed fan.

TIA

I'd plug a high horse power fan into a 4-pin connector. The whimp fans can get plugged into the MB 3-pins. :D

A YS Tech adjustable 80mm fan might be worth a look. Max airflow is a fairly strong ~50cfm. Max power draw is about 3.5W, which is a trifle higher than I'd be comfortable pulling off a motherboard header, although hopefully most boards these days can handle that. To be safe, I'd use a 3-pin-to-4-pin adapter and plug it into the PSU. YS Tech adjustable fan

If it a fan for a P4--yes. If it is an air conditioner for an AMD----no. Sorry I couldn't resist. It's nice to be able to use the MB RPM features when you plug it into the board. R
