should I use the extra RAM or will it slow me down?

My dads computer is a Dell 2GHz P4. He has two RAM slots. One has a 512MB sick of Corsair Value which is PC3200. I have an extra 256MB stick of PC2100. Could I use both at the same time with one at 3200 and one at 2100 for 768MB of RAM? or will they both slow down to 2100 and make things worse?

In order for the system to work both sticks of ram will have to run at 2100. To my knowledge there is no reasonable method for an end user to run one stick at 2100 and one at 3200.

i put it in and the 3200 one went down to 2100
by the way, he does alot of CAD stuff. im not sure if is all 3D or not though.

Don't worry. 2.0 northwoods run with a 133 bus. Your PC2100 memory should be fine, and won't bottleneck your system.
