Should i use SP3?

No problems here on either a Dell laptop or my desktop.

There is one issue regarding IE7 or IE8 Beta, though. If you want to uninstall either, make sure you uninstall prior to SP3, and then reinstall after SP3. Otherwise, you lose the ability to uninstall IE7/8 if either are on the system when SP3 is installed.

No problems on my desktop or laptop. I would say its safe unless you are running an AMD system, then you have reason to be scared of it. That said, my desktop is AMD and it is fine.

🙁 Athlon 64. Damnit.

No problems here on my Asus laptop but XP has always been stable for me even since SP2. Booting up though is slightly longer than SP2, not a big deal.

My system was spontaneously rebooting. I found what appears to be a temporary work around on HP's site.

IMPORTANT!!! THIS IS FOR AMD CPU'S ONLY!!!

Their bulletin is a bit long and techy. The short version is:

1. Boot into Safe Mode.

2. Go to Windows\System32\Drivers.

3. Rename the file, Intelppm.sys anything else.

HP's example is xxxintelppm.syx, but anything will do. They also say you can just delete the file.

I'm glad you went to Errol with this one. I just got back from rebooting after applying the fix. So far, it's stable, but only time will tell. 😛

I had it bluescreen on my Intel-proc laptop. Slipstreaming it and then nuking the machine worked.

I gave away my Thinkpad T30 to a friend of mine. T30's are a bit old these days (Intel based though), and I did a restore, and installed SP1 then SP3. I have to say that SP3 makes it run pretty good for such an old laptop.

No problems here, I noticed a nice speed boost as well. As for stability, I never had any problems with SP2, so it's the same for me.
