Should I use 80 wires IDE cable?

Hi,

I have a 5 years old pc running Celeron 500. It uses a ATA66 Quantum 13G HD. It's 5400rpm. Too slow. So I bought a WD 80G 8MB cache HDD, hope to make it a bit faster.

Now about the cable. The original one used by the 13G has 40 wires. I know ATA100 harddisk should use 80 wires cable. But in this case, I don't think the mobo supports ATA100 anyway. So should I use a 80 wires cable? Does it really matter if I keep using that 40 wires one?

Thanks.

80-wire cables are for ATA66 as well, actually. So if you have one, might as well use it. Also consider a CPU/motherboard/memory/power-supply upgrade one of these days.
