Should I upgrade to SP2?

I'm still running plain ol' XP pro. Reason being is I have this problem on my PC w/ SP1 that would always cause my ping to be around 200 in CoD. I never bothered upgrading to SP2 b/c at the time i heard horrible complaints about it. Should I upgrade, and if so, do you think SP2 will fix whatever SP1 problems i was having? Because I had read some place where only an extremely small number of people experienced that problem and MS said they weren't going to bother fixing it.
 
I'm not sure what problem you're referring to, but you should absolutely install SP2 as well as all the updates released after SP2. It is foolish and irresponsible to connect an unpatched Windows system to the internet.
 
Well it was an issue with SP1 which practically wouldn't let me play CoD so I never installed it, and when SP 2 rolled around i heard so many people saying it screwed their comp up so i just never bothered. I guess I'll go ahead and give it a shot. Hopefully it won't screw up my ping on bf2.
