Should I upgrade the vid card?

Just finished setting up my pc with Windows 7 and was wondering if its time to upgrade my vid card to take advantage of Directx 11. I'm running an HD3870 which is a DX10 card and was wondering what I can expect in terms of performance for a non gamer. I've seen clips on youtube showing how DX11 improves game graphics but for someone who watches vids(youtube, avi, mp4, etc) and does general internet stuff, is it worthwhile to upgrade? I'm considering a HD5750 card and know that it will certainly have a higher performance than my old card but its the DX11 issue I'm curious about. Will I notice any differences in things like my desktop, icons, folders and such? Thanks.

No, it makes absolutely no sense upgrading your videocard if you don't game at all.

I agree with error8, if your not a gamer then it makes no sense to upgrade. Your 3870 is an okay video card which will be able to run most games and give you good performance. If your wanting to use high levels of AA then maybe an upgrade would be worth doing.

Check back in a year or so, you'll probably be able to find a DX11 value card for $50 or less that will slightly outperform your 3870 while having passive cooling and a much lower power drag/heat output/noise. Probably be called something like a Radeon 6350 or 6550, if the naming holds up. About the only thing I see as a negative about your situation is having a gaming card and not gaming on it :) Of course, another route is to just use what you got until it doesn't work for you any more, which is perfectly valid.
