I have had the 4 bay NAS for years and it has worked fine for the most part. I just use it as a storage/media device so there are no major demands on it. I am upgrading the hard drives so was think if I should update the OS. My major complaint with the NAS is that the connections get dropped especially after a power outage. It's not a big deal but can get annoying having to reset connections on multiple computer. I'm wondering if I should upgrade. I have searched and can't find what the advantages are with the newer OS.

I would simply based on the security patches. Especially if it's accessible over the wan.

Most people should probably upgrade, but there were some significant changes to the hosted photos app. I'm still on 6.2 for now, but may upgrade in the future.

I upgraded to 6.2.3. I just installed a new drive to new drive and Win7 connected without me having to do anything so I guess that must be a big upgrade. I had to manually connect each drive before. Do you know off hand if I will be able to access the 6TB drives through WinXP? I have one old machine with WinXP 32bit on it and would like to be able to connect. My Xigmanas server has 6TB drives and WinXP accesses them just fine. It's not a big deal but it would be nice.
