Now that the price cuts hit and the quad core Q6600 has come down to the ~$500 range, I'm going to grab one. I have an Asus P5B-E right now. Is there any other boards in the $150-$200 range that pretty much anal rape this one that I should be looking at? Anything worth an upgrade that is. Not looking for sli, cause 1 8800GTX is good enough for me. Soon to be the ever-delayed R600.

EDIT: also, i have corsair PC1066 memory 2x 1GB. should i grab another 2 sticks of that or 2 sticks of DDR800 2x 2GB?

I'd wait for the next price drop around Sept, when the q6600 is expected to fall to about $266. With the money you save, you can invest in water cooling. And if your board is stable, I'd keep using it. I wouldn't bother with more memory unless you're using vista.

i've had a copy of OEM vista x64 sitting in my bathroom (don't ask) for a couple months now i've been waiting to install. only thing holding me back is driver support, or lack there of.

Waiting for R600 is like waiting for godot- nothingness, tedium and meaninglessness. Stable mobo's are a rarity these days so keep what you got if its rocking. I waffled like a presidential hopeful on weather to wait for ATIs new best or get some guaranteed goodness from NVIDA. See what you can get the fsb on that Q6600 on your current mobo, you may run out of of cooling before you run out of FSB. If you can get those hot Tamales near 3.4-3.6 without going thermalnuke like that guy on Heroes than your mobo may do you well.

I just got the EVGA 680i and its a dream. Best I have ever run, Never used P5B but the recent update-revision-to the 680i evga supposedly does good stuff for Quads.

Peace

I don't see a reason for you to upgrade your motherboard. If it's just for the fun of upgrading, wait till Bearlake comes out.
