Should I upgrade my laptop with new chip to get a few more years out of it?

So here's what I have, Gateway P-6831fx, few years old

GeForce 8800M GTS
Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 ghz
3gig ram
2x 250gb HDs RAID 0

So I'm thinking I can upgrade the chip for under $200 to a T9300 2.5 Ghz because that seems to be the limfac and I will get a few more good years of gaming out of it. But I don't know much about the video card world and I'm wondering if the 8800M will hold me back, I've read some stuff about newer cards supporting DX11 and I don't know if that's hardware or software driver issue but will that hold me back regardless of a new CPU?

I wouldn't spend $200 to upgrade anything on an old laptop these days. For $800 you can get yourself a darn nice lappy that would probably fit your needs. As soon as you dump $200 into your old one your screen will probably crap out...

My 9300 was intermittently losing the bottom 1" of the display. I loved the little thing (Karaktu built it with a dual boot OS and a 2.2ghz cpu) but pawned it off after dumping my data and put the money towards a nice HP dv6. I got almost 4 years out of the 9300. I wasn't even interested in dumping $50 on it to investigate the problem.

i wouldnt suggest getting the fastest, because of the cost, i would suggest getting a 2ghz or so chip though, as you will see an improvement and not cost nearly as much either.
