Should i upgrade my graphics card??

Ok i dont know really anything about gaming pcs. However i know mine is getting old and i want to boost my fps on some games i play (cs go,league,beamng and many more). Atm my computer consists of

AM3 FX4-4100 Bulldozer Quad Core Processor

8192MB(8GB) DDR3 RAM

1000GB SATA III HDD

1GB Geforce GTX 650 Graphics card

6x USB (2.0)

Dual format Dual layer 22x dvdrw with nero software

Anyway i want to upgrade my graphics card to a gtx 670 but i dont know if that will help or not considering i wont be upgrading the other parts.

Please help as i am a brainless fool when it comes to pc.
 
I'd say yes it would help however you'll get better advice in video cards sub forum.
Do whatever the Russian Sensation says. He knows all things graphics cards.
 
OK dumb mistake gtx 660 is what im trying to get. I asked my friend about what i should do and he said considering i have 750w psu all i would need to upgrade as well is my motherboard which at the moment is a gigabyte ga-78lmt-s2p
 
Again you get better opinions in video cards. A 660 is a fairly old card now but it was the entry point for respectable gaming. I think you'd be better off saving for a new system.
If he's selling it real cheap like a few hours of work type cheap try it out if its more expensive I wouldn't bother.
 
You shouldn't need a new motherboard, yours supports the GTX 650 so a GTX 660/670/680 will work exactly the same. And a 750W power supply should be more than adequate for whatever GPU you want to throw in there.

A 660 will be a solid upgrade from a 650. Just make sure you aren't paying too much for it, there are many new cards today that use less power with stronger performance at a reasonable price.

One question that hasn't been asked, what screen resolution do you game at? This can be very important in deciding how much video card you need.

depends a ton on the game. Some games are really cpu intensive, other not at all. You'll be able to crank up to max settings on everything without worrying about the GPU probably at least.
 
Highly depends what resolution monitor you have.

I am still a little old school here running on 1680x1050. But I don't mind it one bit.

Playing witcher 3 on Medium/high settings with no issue on a gtx 560!
 
Ok just to sum this up should i get the gtx 960 or 660 , as i dont know which one will do the best with my cpu.
 
I would say you might want to wait for the 950 to show up later this month...if you want to stay with nvidia.
 
If you need to upgrade now, a 960 is probably the way to go. I'm waiting on the next gen cards personally (but I also have a 670 in my system, which is quite a bit more powerful than your 650, which still keeps me at passable graphics levels in most games I play).
 
A few months ago I updated my 7 year old PC, q9500, 8 gig of DDR2 ram, AMD3870.

All I did was swap the 3870 to an R290x for 300 and now this system plays GTA5 fully maxxed out and fully playable. I say a vid card is probably the best thing to swap.
