my geforce fx 5600 fan is starting to go, its making a crap load of noise, i was wondering what you guys think i should do?
so far i got the following options in mind...
get a new vga cooler to replace the fan that isnt working, and keep using this one until something really stops working..
get a new 9800 pro right now and use that
or wait all together and see what kind of new vid cards come out in the next two months, see whats up with the new series, and possibly get one of those, or maybe a 9800 pro for much less then....

If you want my opinion, I'd get the 9800 pro. If your going to be taking advantage of the new motherboards etc. you can save money to fully upgrade the rest of the system and wait for some good pci-express cards down the road. It looks like the first generation of pci-express boards will come with agp slots.

you should buy a new video card every 6 months at the latest. That's what I do.
Sometimes I buy more. I have had 7 of them int he last year.

Get the 9800 pro while they're still retailing around $200. Best performance for price I've seen.

Remove the fan from the heatsink, and on the underside of it is a sticker that holds the thrust bushing in place. Remove the sticker and place a 1/2 drop of your favorite light lubricant on the fan pinion, spin the fan for a minute to work in the lubricant, wipe away any excess, then re-install the sticker.

That should quiet your fan down and allow you more time to let prices drop even further or wait for a sweet deal on the vid card of yoiur choice :)

Get ANYTHING besides that 5600. The 5600 was a waste of PCB!! If you still want mid range go for a 5700Ultra or for high end go for 5900XT or 9800PRO.

What brand is the card? It may still be under warranty, if so get it fixed for free with the possibility of an upgrade.
