Should I upgrade my DSL?

Right now I have basic DSL service with SWB. It's 1.5Mbps downstream/128Kbps upstream. I have 2 PC's hooked up to a Linksys BEFSR41 router. I bought the router and the second PC so my wife and I could both play UT online at the same time. Well, I just got everything hooked up last night and if we both play at the same time, our pings go up and it sucks.

Does anyone know what I need to do in order for us both to get good pings at the same time? Is it because of the 128K upstream cap? If I upgraded to their DSL service that has a 384K upstream, would that solve the problem?

What kind of pings are you getting by yourself and then once the other computer is gaming also?

I'm no expert when it comes to this, but our ISP has like really crappy upload speeds (less than 56kb up :(), but sub 100 pings, so gaming kicks ass playing it. I'm guessing it's more of a ping problem rather than upload speed. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure gaming doesn't rely heavily on upload speed, but how fast the data can be sent back and forth (the ping of course)

I do not think that getting the faster connection form the same company will make a difference because your still sharing the connection. You know what I mean?

When only one computer is playing online, I get about a 40-50 ping. But when both computer are playing, they each get a ping in the 175-225 range.

Try setting up a DMZ host? I'm not sure what that is, but users with multiplayer game problems usually get this response. I think it has one computer hosting a game via a VPN, and then another computer joining it. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong ATers! :) Hope this helps.

You probobly should be getting a little better ping than that.
You can try reducing packet size, that can sometimes reduce latency.
I forget how you reduce packet size, it may be stored in the registry.
