What is your video card? Other specs? That would help? You could try overclocking the 1700 but unless it is a Thorobred (sp) B than overclocking might not be so good. Make sure also that your bios will support higher speeds. Sometimes they only support up to say a 2000+ or 2100+. If that is true than just overclock the 1700. You probably could buy a 2600+ cpu witha matching ddr266 frontise bus for around $80.00 if the bios supports it. What do you mainly do with your rig? That will help as well

Well, it depends realy. By 1.7 I hope you mean 1700+, which runs at 1.47ghz. Anyway, you may want to check and see if your board supports mobiles. Grab maybe a mobile 2400+ and pin mod it to 17x. That will give you 2261mhz, or just over a 3200+. It would be a tad slower than the 3200 because of bus speed, but fast none the less.

Anyway check your board manufacturer to see if you have barton support. if all else fails, there is always the mobile TB's.

You'd prolly be better off with 1 new Mobo (Nforce's latest) cause it'll give you better sound and hopefully you have good 1700XP with some good RAM which OC's to 2GHz+ easily

Ok Yes I think a new mobo would be better. I do not know how to OC or anything like that, like modding. By 1.7 I mean 1700 but it runs at 1800. Because I bought it OC'd from this place.

keep that mobo around somewhere, its a great motherboard for any computer use,its just a bit too old for most modern games.
