Thanks guys, I think I will look into upgrading my processor first, and then try the ram as suggested. Thats what I thought, but I wanted to be sure, I am far from an expert.Now hopefully, I won't forget my artic silver this time dammit!

According to this table, it appears that your motherboard would support a .13 micron Tbred core CPU, so you should be ok if / when you decide to upgrade to a 1700+.
