Should I upgrade from xfire 4870 to a 570? Help please!

Hi, I ran into some birthday money and I'm (obviously!) thinking about an upgrade.

I have dual 4870s (1gb) in xfire and I'm wondering if I should make the leap to a 570. I've been somewhat disappointed with the crossfire performance (got the second one used for cheap) and I sort of want to go Nvidia.

I game at 1920x1200 and I am using an e8500 at 3.8Ghz right now. I am hoping to hold off for Ivy Bridge in that department.

Any advice would be really really appreciated. Thanks!!

I think I would move to a quad core system first, that would give you the best gains in more modern games.

Hmm really, would it be a waste to jump on SB now with Ivy Bridge in the not too distant future though?

Also what about the Z67 boards? Will those be soon? Thank you!

They should be released in May or June, thats when I would upgrade if I was in your position.

2 4870's in crossfire are about equal to a 6950/gtx560, at 1080p your 4870's are being held back by your cpu in some more modern games.

A more modern motherboard cpu setup like a core i7 or Sandy bridge will be much better with a crossfire system also. I think it has to do with the faster memory bandwidth of a core i7 system.

Yes, in my opinion a cpu/board/memory upgrade will net you better fps then a video card upgrade at this point.

Thanks! Much appreciated. I believe that is what I will do.
