Should I update my GPS map?

Going for a weeks trip to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. I have a Tomtom with Jan 08 map, do I need to or should I update it?

Yes. I know the 180 freeway will be different should you pass through Fresno for some reason. I ran into that problem on my drive to Sanger/Squaw Valley.

Not going that way, will be diving in from Reno. Staying in South LT and Mariposa

If it's not too much hassle I'd do it anyways. If not, and your phone can, you can pull up Google Maps on your phone if you run into any snags.

The main purpose of updating a GPS is to update business listings. If you don't plan on stopping during the trip then it's not a big deal.

True but some freeways do expand. It doesn't happen often though.

If the update is free, I would do it. If it isn't, then just skip it.

Yes, do it for the real-time bear tracking. They could have moved since 2008.
