I'm happy with the speed & stability as it is & of course a good rule of thumb is not to flash unless you have to.

I'm curious if it would be worth it to flash to the 1606 bios though.
What options does the

<< BIOS item to tune up system performance >>

actually add?

Anything useful?

Any other good reasons to update?

I currently have the bios that was on my board as it was shipped.
Dated 3-15-2001.

I decided to try it.
I DON'T like it!

I dont care for that ugly screen either, it takes longer for my pc to boot up & my 3dmark scores dropped 300pts!

I think I'll flash it back to my old bios.

Well POOP!

I just flashed back to my old.bin & when I go into the bios its asking for a password.

Ive never used a password!

Something screwed up.

So I flashed back & forth from the 1606 & my old.bin a coupla times with no luck.

My old bios wants a password.

So I'm stuck with the 1606 unless some good hearted soul sends me his old.bin so I can try to flash to that. HINT! HINT!

Or anyone knows a trick to bypass that password.

To reset the password, you could try unplugging your computer's power and pop the battery out of the motherboard. This will reset the bios, but I don't remember if they password will go with it or not. Couldn't hurt to try!

Got it by resetting the CMOS jumper last night.

I had this in 2 threads, I forgot to update this one.
